About the role
As a Production Quality Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring that products meet our quality standards throughout the production lifecycle. You'll play a critical role in evaluating design kits, optimising fabrication processes, selecting cost-effective materials, and implementing quality control systems that drive operational excellence.

This role reports to the Production Manager, and in collaboration, you will be responsible for improving the production processes.

Key Responsivities

Engineering & Production Quality

  • Review design kits and material requirements for efficiency, feasibility, and cost-effectiveness
  • Evaluate fabrication processes and recommend improvements in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Provide technical expertise and support for production operations
  • Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure traceability of sheets used in manufacturing
  • Review, implement and maintain a robust Quality Control Program (internal and external)

Procurement & Reporting

  • Monitor and review project costs to ensure adherence to budget
  • Analyse cost breakdowns for materials and fabrication
  • Provide internal cost estimates to the Sales and Finance Departments
  • Communicate project and cost updates with relevant stakeholders
  • Manage the procurement process for sheet materials
  • Review fabricated materials for quality compliance
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

This role will suit an experienced Production Quality Specialist with an eye for detail and strong analytical, planning and communication skills who enjoys taking responsibility and ownership within a dynamic but stable business.

  • Trade certified as a boilermaker, fitter and turner or sheet metal (preferable)
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (desirable)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working within a steel manufacturing environment
  • Able to read shop drawings
  • Experience in Production Planning
  • Demonstrated knowledge of production methodologies
  • Experience in process and procedure planning, documentation and implementation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Practical problem solver with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and suppliers
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (particularly Excel)
  • Experience using manufacturing ERP systems
